(San Saba, Texas) The San Saba Scottish Rite Club will hold its quarterly meeting on Tuesday, March 14th at the Lodge hall in San Saba. A meal of pulled pork will be provided by Gary E. Farley. Supper will be served at 6:30PM. Members are asked to provide a complimentary covered side dish, bread, salad or desert. All Freemasons and their guests are invited. Scottish Rite Masons are reminded to wear their hats and regalia.
After the meal, members and guests will adjourn to the Lodge room for the open portion of the meeting. The program will be presented by Shirley Woodlock of Waco, TX., who will speak about “Famous Freemasons During the War Between the States (1861-1865).”
Mrs. Woodlock, a retired hair stylist, has been married to her husband James for 53 years. Both are native Texans and are the parents of two children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Shirley has many hobbies of which her favorite is cooking, machine embroidery and genealogy.
She is a member of numerous organizations and lineage societies. Among them are the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society United States Daughters of 1812, Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars and the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC). She is also a life member of the Order of Confederate Rose and an endowed member of Bellmead Chapter No. 980, Order of the Eastern Star.
Her passion is conducting researching about Confederate soldiers and working for the Texas Civil War Museum in Fort Worth in that capacity. Shirley has been a member of the UDC since 1996 and has held numerous Chapter, Division and General offices. She served the Texas Division UDC as Registrar, Recorder of Military Service Awards 2008-2010 and as Texas Division President. On the General level, she has held several chairmanships, served as Registrar General and most recently, (2014-2016) as Historian General.
