Hello dear Brothers,
I hope this communication finds you well as we prepare for the holidays and look forward to the new year.
While we look forward to the new year to come, I would like to ask you to reflect on the year that is ending.
Let us look to the Brothers who we have known and respected, both who have passed and who are still with us. These Brothers who have dedicated their lives to their community and to our Fraternity.
Consider the examples they have set for those of us who carry on their laudable and distinguished works. Let us reflect on the good that we recognized in them and the qualities that we have admired in them. In the new year I ask that we try to emulate what we have seen to be praiseworthy in order to better ourselves and elevate our craft. Please consider the words of Brother Albert Pike who stated:
I ask also that you consider the first lesson that we learn as a Mason, that of charity. Please consider the gift of charity as we interact with the outside world and with each other. Our greatest gift can cost nothing to share and can yield great riches. Consider the charity that your Brothers have shown, and try to exemplify their good works.
I want to thank you all for your participation in the success of the Austin Scottish Rite Valley and the support you have provided over the past year. Let us pledge to work in harmony and with zeal and brotherly love as we look to the challenges and joys of the new year.
I wish you all and your families a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Wonderful New Year!
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Don Eames
General Secretary
